Family Therapy

Family therapy sessions will consist of me, you, and the people you consider to be in your "family unit" who are central to the issues affecting your life. Together we will examine patterns of communication and interactions that are affecting you as an individual and you as a member of a family. We all play many roles in our day to day lives-mother, daughter, brother, friend and within those roles comes different ways of talking to and treating those in our "family unit."

While observing the family, I will teach in the moment, stopping negative interactions as they happen and helping the family unit both identify and replace negative interactions. We will examine past, present, and anticipated future events that affect family functioning, as well. Family sessions may be followed up with individual sessions to process disclosures made during family sessions, mixed emotions resulting from the family session, and for further examination of interactions between family members.
